Axis 360 with Adobe Digital Editions

Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) is required to open ACSM license files/DRM-protected eBooks downloaded from Axis 360. To download ADE, visit https://www.adobe.com/solutions/ebook/digital-editions.html. After you download and install ADE, you will need to authorize the software on the device or PC with an Adobe ID and password. This authorizes your computer to download protected eBooks from the Axis360/eRead Illinois collection.

Once ADE is installed and authorized on your device or PC, login to the State Library's Axis360/Magic Wall (State Library patrons only). When you find a eBook title that you would like to download, Checkout the book and then click the Download button. At the pop up box, you will be prompted to open or save an acsm file. This is a small file that Adobe Digital Editions uses to download your eBook. Click on Open.

If you do not receive an Open or Save prompt, you may need to locate the file in your Downloads folder and open it manually. To open an acsm file manually, launch Adobe Digital Editions and click on File Add to Library. In the Add to Library dialog box, change the file type to Adobe Content Server Message (*.acsm). Locate and click on the saved .acsm file (e.g., URLLink.acsm), and then click Open.
